Sober living, sober house and recovery home are all basically the same thing - an environment designed for newly sober individuals which includes supported community living, active participation in 12-step recovery program requirements, accountability, curfew, random alcohol & drug testing, assistance with life skills goals and more.
Our locations are carefully selected and they could not be better for easy access to public transportation. For Wicker Park location...within two blocks we have 3 major bus lines (#72 North, #70 Division, #49 Western) and the Blue Line station at North & Damen is a short walk of ten minutes or less. Our monthly fee, which is required to be paid on the first of each month, varies for shared and private rooms. Please contact us directly for more information with regards to fee payments.
Aside from accountability and structure, the monthly fee includes the reservation of your bed, Direct TV and WiFi access in each apartment and all other relevant utility costs. Each apartment has a washer & dryer in unit and there is no charge for client use.
Clients are required to provide their own bedding (linen and pillows etc.) and clients are also required to provide their own food and beverage. Clients who take medication of any kind are required to have a lock box to safely store their medication.
Yes, clients are encouraged to work and there are no restrictions aside from being required to be home for curfew by midnight.
Yes, our clients have access to several meeting location options within walking distance and public transit to meetings city wide couldn't be easier.
The requirement is that new clients make 30 meetings in their first 30 days at the house with a sign in sheet completed for proof. After their first 30 days, clients are required to make 4-5 regular meetings per week; it's suggested that clients complete the standard suggested 90 meetings in 90 days.
The suggested minimum commitment is 3 months which is really just a beginning amount of time to develop a program of recovery. Our goal is to complement our amazing facility with an amazing community so that people will feel comfortable staying as long as possible.
Our facility has 18 beds spread out between 5 apartments. Each apartment has a full kitchen, living room, bathroom and laundry room. There are both shared rooms and private rooms available, shared rooms are no more than two people per room.
The operations manager is Errick Williams from Step 2 North and the two co-founders are directly involved with and always available to the community.
Yes, clients in good standing can qualify for one night overnights on a limited basis with restrictions, inquire directly for more info.
Yes, curfew is 11:00pm Sunday - Thursday and 12:00am Midnight Friday & Saturdays.
We have one "meeting" per week that takes place at bridgehaus which is a "pass it on"/"bridge group" that is led by volunteers with from the recovery community. This is not a typical 12-step meeting as it allows for a more question and answer format; it's a great way for new clients to learn more about the program and ask questions from members who have experience with being new in recovery.
Yes, clients may take certain pre-approved medications but will be required to have regular follow up with the prescribing doctor. All clients that take medications will be required to purchase their own lock box so that medications may be stored safely out of sight. Certain medications may be required to be stored securely in the manager's office.
Opioids, Benzodiazepines, Suboxone, Muscle Relaxants, Amphetamines, Sleeping Pills, Sedatives, Tranquilizers, Barbituates, Cough and Cold Meds with DXM (dextromethorpan). **some exceptions will be made on a case-by-case basis for clients with verifiable pre-existing conditions such as ADHD, Sleep Disorders etc.**
Clients are required to get a sponsor within 21 days of moving into the house.
Bridgehaus has a strict zero tolerance policy with regard to relapse. In the event of a relapse, the client in question will be required to leave immediately and they will not be welcome back except to gather their belongings under staff supervision.
